Walter Gropius designed the set at the end of the 1960s in collaboration with the ceramic artist Katherine de Sousa. The dynamic shape is derived from sections of a sphere and related radii and curves, surfaces, and lines. The curve of the handle continues in the lid knob, providing an intuitively graspable point to hold the lid when pouring
