About Me

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counsellor and Psychotherapy (BACP)

Although I specialise in person-centred approach, which means letting you have the chance to reflect on your experience of life - a respectful, non-threatening method - I can also draw on a range of therapeutic models. This includes creative methods to help you find a way through your problems, especially for those who don't find it easy to put complex feelings into words. We will explore together and see which ways of working are the most effective for you.

I have more than 18 years experience working with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds covering many different issues, including drugs and alcohol addiction.

I have also worked in the criminal justice system, probation and bail hostel, providing counselling and developing and delivering group work to offenders to encourage change. Although at times it was challenging, it was equally rewarding.

For 14 years I worked as a specialist domestic abuse and mental health counsellor in a woman only organization. Supporting clients with a number of issues, I have been privileged to witness positive change in many of their lives.

I have experience of working with adolescent young girls with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a residential therapeutic project.

I currently work as a school counsellor in a secondary school, where I provide counselling and group therapy. Social emotional and mental health (SEMH) The teenage years can be quite an emotional assault course; many find it so hard because it is a time of rapid physical development and emotional changes. Plus, trying to find their way in society to conform to conflicting expectation, which can be confusing and uncomfortable for each individual.

I have interest and experience working in the following areas:

  • Mental health
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Low self-esteem/self-worth
  • Domestic abuse
  • Drug addiction
  • Relationship issues
  • Supporting the wellbeing of young students

I have a commitment to professional development and attend workshops and seminars on a regular basis to maintain that I stay abreast of new approaches and continue to practice to the highest level of my ability.

My work comes under regular supervision by a BACP supervisor to ensure safe and ethical practices.
